Birthday Door
The Short Instructions
This is a simple door consisting of two parts:
1) the Birthday external. This is a user-accessed external which allows your
user to enter the day and month of their birthday into the Birthday File.
2) the BirthdayUpdate external. This is an external which can either be run
daily by the sysop, to generate the "Birthday Bulletin" text file of birthdays
on the BBS on that day, or run on entry into the BBS for users, which will
display the current list of birthdays to the caller.
Install both of these as you would any other door, specifying the BBS path,
door path, and application to return to; and install them in your software
as instructed (depending on which BBS system you are running)
This program is shareware. If you like it, use it, or think it works for
you, send $10 to: Benjamin Kuo, 3419 East 7590 South, Salt Lake City, Utah
84121-5439.
If you want better instructions on installation, see the (many) other doors I
have released for Second Sight, Red Ryder Host, WWIV, and Mansion bulletin
board systems.
If you need to reconfigure your system, delete the "Birthday Options" and the
"BirthdayUpdate Options" files in your system folder.
This is a Silver Yucca Software ULTRA QUICK release. I saw something like this
on a PC system, so I whipped up the door. If you want any changes or enhancements,
a note on what you want accompanied with a shareware fee is HIGHLY effective.
This door isn't too fancy because a)I haven't received a new shareware fee for
any of my doors in about three years, and b)there might already be something like
this available for many bulletin board systems, and c) Really, what do you expect
for a door which announces birthdays?
